I went on one date in college. ONE. And I’ve always had a chance to get to know the guy personally before I spent time with them alone. Whether we dated or not.
So, that’s one of the many reasons that I believe the date I went on last Friday went TERRIBLE. I can't allow myself to dwell on this awkward night any longer, so I decided to be productive with my thoughts and turn this into a part of the ‘Lexx Vents’ series.
I’ll change names for privacy reasons, so if you know a Chad*, Barry*, Sam*, Gina*, or a Dani*, I am not referring to them. :D
Chad and Dani have known each other for about 3 years, but they are just now getting romantically involved. They thought it would be a good idea for Sam and Barry to meet me and Gina, so they added us all to a group message. We all got along great, so we decided to all hang out at Top Golf on Friday.
Barry was extremely attracted to Gina, and I thought about giving Sam a chance. However, Sam displayed an ENTIRE different personality that night than he did when we would talk alone. We were getting along great at his house while he sipped from a Wendy’s cup of Hi-C and Hennessy. He couldn’t keep his eyes off of me on the way to Top Golf.
I don’t know if the Henn was wearing off, or he was just slowly becoming nervous…he started to get so RUDE.
I sucked at golf. Like any girl who only knows one golfer (Tiger Woods) would. Yet, he was so bothered by it he told me to sit down and never play again.
After I skipped a few rounds, he asked me if I wanted to go again. “You told me I couldn’t go anymore,” I said sarcastically. I’m never the one to listen to what ANYbody tells me to do. But, I wasn’t about to play with someone who didn’t have a positive attitude either. The crazy part is that he looked at me as if he didn’t remember telling me to sit down.
Did he forget just that quick that he told me I couldn’t play? I don’t need to go on dates with any more tipsy guys.
When we left, everyone (but me) decided they were hungry, so we went to Waffle House. As he devoured his All-Star meal all I could think about was how happy I was that we were up the street from my house, so Gina could drop me off and I could be done with this night.
I haven’t heard from Sam since. Barry and Gina hit it off perfectly. The rest of them are going out again this weekend. Which makes it awkward for me as I’ll be watching their outing on Snapchat as I sit at home.
Moral of the story is: If you hate awkward situations like I do, don’t date your friend’s boyfriend’s friends. :|
See you in 2 weeks! Thanks for reading.
Read or Weep,
I have been absent from my blog for four months.
There were many times when I just wanted to open my site and vent about my frustrations. Between my personal life, the recent tragedies all over the world, and trying to build my professional career...there was a lot that I could have written about.
However, I saw a message yesterday that said "Act, do not react." I took that message as a sign that I should start speaking what I want to achieve into existence instead of reacting to every obstacle that I've been experiencing lately.
A lot has happened since March.
I turned 22, graduated college, completed my last collegiate internship, and I officially moved back to Atlanta.
Moving back to Atlanta has been tough. I'm surrounded by movers and shakers who have life figured out already. Meanwhile, I'm adjusting to making the most out of the 24 hours in a day that do not involve classes, homework, and organization meetings.
I know God has a plan for me, and I plan on enjoying life to the fullest instead of waiting for my life to be perfect.
From now on, 'The Real Word' will be updated bi-monthly and 'New Flavor in Your Ear' will be updated monthly.
Thank you all so much for your patience!
